The first Festival of the Mysteries of Life season is Chelanya, the Golden Festival. It is celebrated on Kerea 22nd/August 1st. The dominant symbol of the festival is corn or wheat, which flourishes at the touch of the Sun, manifesting the rich Solar Gold upon the field of matter. The corn is also symbolic of sacrifice and resurrection, as it is cut down and grows again – in this connection it is usually paired with the sickle.
